Montreal Doula - Doulas in Montreal
The word “doula” comes from Ancient Greek δούλη (doulē), and refers to a woman of service.
There are 2 different kinds of doulas that provide different support before, during and after the birth.
- Labor/birth support doulas are persons who help with the emotional and physical comfort needs of laboring women to aid in the labor process
- Postpartum doulas are hired to support the woman after birth, usually in the family's home
In Canada, labor/birth/postpartum doulas are not required to be certified. However, certification is available through several different organizations.
Below you will find a list of some Montreal doulas.
